Is it a Sony Ericsson? An LG? No it’s the Nokia X6

Abandoning its curvaceous ergonomics which used to claim nothing sharp-edged for the human hands, Finish mobile phone leader Nokia surprised many at the Nokia World conference in Stuttgart with a sharp cornered design that from a distance could be mistaken for one of those new Xperias or Chocolates.  It's the new Nokia X6 heralding Nokia's new line of X series smartphones.

Nokia must have taken a cue from the upcoming stylish smartphones from Japan and Korea to excite the crowd with a full touchscreen handset that is sure to turn heads and give some real threat to its Asian competitors.

High End Smartphone Features and Price

Nokia officially launched the X series at its World Conference event with an expected market release before the year ends. The estimated SIM-free retail price is '460 before taxes and subsidies.  We're pretty sure UK carriers are now scrambling to get their hands on it as it promises to bring a new dimension in multimedia experience for Nokia fans bored with the signature Nokia designs of late.

  • Sporting a slim body that's just 14mm thin, the X6 comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive 16:9 WVGA touchscreen with the usual 16 million colors and accelerometer we've come to expect from an upscale touchscreen. Nokia boasts that you could fit in 20 shortcut icons on its homescreen you can easily personalize, allowing single touch access to all your favorite media rich files as well as your social network sites like Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and Yahoo IM, among others.
  • Imaging features won't disappoint avid snappers with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera using the Carl Zeiss optics we find in upscale Nokia camera phones. It has dual LED flash and geo tagging. It has video editing app bundled and you can connect the handset to a monitor with its TV-out jack.
  • Music playback is superbly anchored on a high quality player with stereo Fm radio, Bluetooth A2Dp for wireless stereo earphones and a 3.5 mm headphone jack to give you more choices in using your preferred headset.  The X6 is a 'Comes With Music' handset that allows direct unlimited access to online mp3 files from the Nokia Music Store.  You get up to 35 hours of music playback on a single charge, more than enough to keep you entertained on long trips.
  • The Nokia X6 has A-GPS that comes with digital compass and Nokia/Ovi Maps to get you guided on your way to your destination safely with its turn-by-turn voiced navigation.
  • You get full internet browsing with Flash Lite 3.0 goes high speed with its 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA data connectivity support.  Hotspot browsing is also supported with WiFi/WLAN wireless access support.  Email messaging is a breeze as the X6 can combine multiple accounts into just one email inbox.  You get support for POP3/IMAP email clients like Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, G-mail, as well as a lifetime license to use Nokia messaging services that includes Nokia Email and IM.

You get a more than generous 32 GB of internal memory to store all your media-rich files to last a week on the road.  No need for microSD cards.
